Define abandonment before contacting anyone
Abandoned cart recovery helps an eligible shopper complete an unfinished purchase. Define which event starts the workflow and how long the business waits before treating the journey as unfinished. A cart creation, an incomplete checkout, and a failed payment are different events.
A shopper may have changed their mind, encountered unexpected costs, needed more product information, or purchased elsewhere. The event alone does not establish the reason. Check whether your connected system can provide a valid contact channel and appropriate outreach permission before scheduling a message.
Answer the buying question before offering a discount
Use approved information about fit, compatibility, delivery, returns, or product differences to resolve the actual hesitation. If the shopper replies with a question, pause the generic reminder and address it.
For example, someone comparing two waterproof jackets may need a product distinction, not a coupon. Discounts can increase order counts while reducing margin. Do not promise a promotion, free delivery, or a return exception unless the business approves it and the configured system can honor it.
Separate eligibility, cadence, and stop rules
Record why the person can receive this kind of contact through the chosen channel. A website inquiry or telephone number does not automatically authorize every promotional sequence. Review the applicable requirements for the actual audience, channel, and campaign.
Set contact windows, maximum attempts, staff takeover, and stop conditions. Check for a supported purchase event before each scheduled touch. Stop or change the sequence when someone buys, opts out, requests a person, or gives information that makes the original reminder inappropriate.
Test checkout and order evidence
Confirm whether the connection shares an existing checkout link, creates a new session, or performs another authorized action. Test an expired link, unavailable stock, payment failure, duplicate event, and a purchase completed before the reminder.
Do not say an order was placed because checkout was shared. A recovery system needs a defined purchase signal and a fallback when that signal is unavailable. Your staff should be able to see the unresolved action and check for duplicates before retrying.
Measure recovery with a defensible comparison
Define eligible abandoned journeys, the attribution window, verified orders, refunds, and all operating costs. A purchase after a reminder is not automatically a purchase caused by the reminder. A comparison group can help distinguish incremental recovery from customers who would have returned anyway.
Review contribution margin, discounts, communications fees, service charges, and staff review. Keep returning customers and new-customer acquisition separate where that distinction matters. Use the same rules in each period so the result remains interpretable.
Scope the integration before the campaign
Crypture supports sales conversations and approved follow-up, but cart recovery requires separately confirmed commerce events, contact permissions, checkout actions, and stop signals. The public platform directory is not a promise that every store or payment system supports those actions.
Use the ecommerce workbook and AI sales test scorecard to prepare a launch review. Start with one product group and a workflow whose normal and failure cases your team can inspect. Expand only after the connection and customer experience support it.
Recovery launch checks
| Event | Expected handling | Evidence to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout unfinished | Review eligibility before outreach | Source event and permitted contact |
| Question about fit | Answer the actual question | Approved product source |
| Purchase before next touch | Stop pending sales follow-up | Supported purchase signal |
| Payment or connection fails | Avoid false order confirmation | Incomplete action and staff owner |
| Customer opts out | Stop the sequence | Contact preference and next action |
A linked store name does not establish these events or actions. Demonstrate each required connection.
