Operating decision guide
AI sales team or sales hiring? Compare the actual work.
Start with the sales work that needs an owner. Compare people, AI and a combined approach against the same inquiry types, supported actions and commercial outcomes. The best choice depends on the job, not the biggest automation promise.
Book a demoCall our AISee the workflow ↓- Repeated catalog questions
Compare approved AI handling, staff handling and a combined route using the same inquiry set and source material.
- Negotiated buying arrangement
People lead the relationship and decision; AI may support agreed routine information or eligible follow-up.
- Healthcare suitability question
A qualified person handles the decision in either operating model. It is not a routine sales-automation task.
- Decision
Choose the owner by the work, authority, quality requirements and complete measured cost—not an unsupported claim that one option always wins.
No calls or messages are sent. Examples describe configured actions, not a live customer result.
What problem would a new hire or an AI workflow solve?
A salesperson who develops relationships and negotiates unusual deals does different work from a system answering approved product questions. Comparing their monthly prices without comparing responsibilities obscures that difference. Crypture can lead a defined routine sales flow or assist your existing team. This guide helps decide where either model belongs; it is not a claim that AI replaces every sales role.
- 01
Write the job before choosing the resource
List the inquiries, questions, contact channels and next actions that currently wait. Distinguish a repeated delivery question from a negotiated contract, and an administrative booking request from a clinical decision. Estimate the actual work using your own records. A broad label such as “sales” hides several jobs that may need different owners and different evaluation methods.
- 02
Ask where human judgment is central
Does the work depend on a complex relationship, unusual commercial terms, original discovery or sensitive judgment? A person should lead those responsibilities. AI-assisted sales may still handle reviewed information and permitted follow-up around the relationship. Define which work stays with your people before assigning any routine component to automation. A hybrid model is a deliberate design, not a failed automation project.
- 03
Ask whether the routine path is sufficiently defined
Can the business approve the relevant facts, explain the decision rules and verify the next action? AI-led handling may fit that scoped portion. If sources are incomplete or ownership is unclear, fix those issues before activation. Hiring a person does not eliminate the need for a good process, and purchasing an AI service does not create an accurate playbook automatically.
- 04
Compare coverage with the same assumptions
Specify the eligible channels, actual demand pattern, response expectations and exception availability. Human coverage depends on staffing, schedules and management. AI coverage depends on the approved configuration, source availability and connected services. Neither should be evaluated only on a headline availability claim. Explain what happens when an inquiry arrives outside the time a qualified person can handle its exception.
- 05
Use a complete cost definition
For hiring, include compensation, recruiting and ramp allocation, management time, training, tools and the cost of uncovered work. For AI, include service fees, channel usage, implementation allocation, connected tools, maintenance, staff review and exceptions. For a hybrid, include both sets where they apply. Use the same evaluation period and avoid treating an employee’s full salary as the cost of one narrow automated task.
- 06
Measure completed outcomes, not activity totals
Define the eligible cohort and the starting baseline. Separate a useful reply, a qualified staff handoff, an appointment request, an attended visit and a verified purchase. Track refunds, cancellations and contribution where the source data supports it. A call placed or checkout link shared is an intermediate event. A fair comparison checks whether the right work was completed, not which option produced more messages.
- 07
Test risk and failure ownership
Who updates an incorrect price? Who reviews a complaint? What happens when a connected action fails, a customer opts out or a personal health question appears? Both people and AI need reviewed policies and escalation paths. Crypture’s sales scope excludes clinical suitability, prescribing and treatment decisions. Confirm the actual permissions and agreements for healthcare data before testing a workflow involving it.
- 08
Choose a focused pilot and an honest decision rule
Keep the starting audience, offer, attribution period and cost definition comparable. Review quality, workload, customer experience and incremental contribution together. A useful result may justify expanding an AI-led flow, retaining staff ownership, or adjusting an assisted model. Do not turn a fictional savings calculation or a vendor’s unrelated customer result into a forecast for your business.
Measure the work
Useful conversations.
Verifiable outcomes.
Agree a baseline and compare like-for-like eligible inquiries. Review the full cost and the experience alongside the commercial result.
Build your pilot scorecard ↗- The same eligible inquiries, evaluation period and useful-response definition for every option.
- Complete operating cost, including oversight, setup allocation, exception work and connected tools.
- Verified outcomes and incremental contribution with refunds, cancellations and existing demand accounted for.
- Customer experience, staff workload, escalation quality and data-handling fit alongside commercial outcomes.
Know the scope
Define the boundary before launch.
This is a qualitative comparison of operating choices based on Crypture’s described scope, not a salary benchmark, competitor pricing comparison, employment recommendation or guaranteed savings claim. Hiring requirements, customer needs and agreements differ. Use your own cost data and verify actual product capabilities before deciding.
